If you're here, it's because you've probably already heard how beneficial piano lessons are to a developing child, so I'll skip that part and keep it short and simple:
What I desire most for my students is for them to be artists. I don't want them to play a piece like I do in a sort of "paint by numbers" way. I want them to be creative, and ultimately to be themselves and have that communicated in the music that they play. Learning the notes and proper technique is important (and still emphasized in lessons), but what draws us to art is not necessarily the technical aspects, but instead is the individual, creative elements that each student brings to a piece of music. I strive to draw out each student's creative voice and encourage them to be confident in what they want to express.
